Yttrium orthophosphate, YPO4
Yttrium orthophosphate, YPO4, occurs in nature as the mineral xenotime. An ammoniacal solution of ammonium orthophosphate when added to yttrium nitrate precipitates a white dihydrate, YPO4.2H2O. The amorphous phosphate may be crystallised from molten yttrium chloride.
